In Writing 200, we were tasked with taking a old piece of writing we had done, re-writing it with a new purpose, and then re-creating the new work into a new medium. I chose to re-purpose "Casting Call," a short play I wrote and directed, into a script for a documentary sequel called "Aftermath." Then, with the help of my friends in the original play, I shot "Aftermath" as a film.
Aftermath: The Script (The Re-Purposing)
In re-purposing Casting Call, I couldn't just write a sequel. It needed to be a different mode of storytelling. So I decided to make the sequel not just a telling of the events following the audition, but a documentary attempting to get into the mind of Judd Apatow and explain the events of the play.
For the portfolio, we are required to show various steps of the writing process for one project. Below, you will find a the original "Casting Call" script, a rough draft, notes from two of my friends, and the final, shooting script. I also have kept record of my original project proposal and notes I made during the writing process.

Aftermath: The Movie (The Re-Mediation)
In the hours following his ill-fated audition, Judd Apatow sits in his office and gives his thoughts on what happened that evening. Meanwhile, the actors are tracked down in and around the audition site, and give their own, different interpretations of Apatow's breakdown, as well as insight into their own career paths.
